Cogenhoe Iron Mine (United Kingdom)

Started approx 1858 by Cogenhoe Iron Ore Co using opencast and underground mining methods. Taken over by G.Cohen in 1886. By all accounts the workings were very prosperous and large for the day, However the co failed to weather the 1880's and the mine closed 16/07/1888. The mine also produced some clay for local brick making.
