Calver (Calver Sough) Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

Calver Sough Mine once occupied a place on land now built over in Calver Sough Village. It had a large 70" Cornish Engine house installed by North Derbyshire Mining Company in 1858. The Calver (Mill) Sough, from which the village takes its name, was used as a pumpway for the engine. Calver Mill Sough was commenced in 1758 and was driven in a considerable distace in a semi circular route (to follow the limestone/ shale interface) and ended at Wren Park Mine in Coombs Dale.
