California Pit Coal Mine (United Kingdom)

Obvious mine heapstead just off Hall Lane surrounded by trees immediately south of Bradshaw Hall Mines Tip. On top of the heapstead is a building around the shaft with a bricked up door, given the brickwork is somewhat ornamental I believe this to be the original shaft top. The remains of the stone heapstead wall can be seen around the heapstead itself. Another suggestion is that this could have been a furnace pit. Either way a very nice survivor.
