A joint venture between BHP Minerals Ltd and Billiton Australia saw the deposits defined and in 1988 anunderground mine and a concentrating mill commissionedat the Cadjebut site approximately 80km southeast of Fitzroy Crossing. In 1994 the Lennard Shelf operations were purchased by a junior mining company; Western Metals Ltd.
