Does anyone know if any of this is still on site or have all the remains now dissapeared?

Regards

I was there early last year and there are several pylons about. The area has generally been heavily 'landscaped'. Found one adit but didn't have any gear to explore it. One or two buildings are still largely intact. One stamp? machine for crushing ore is still on site and in good condition. Will also look out some pics and post. IP: 79.69.225.177

Worth mentioning is that one of the ropeway tensioner 'cages' is a garden feature at the front of a bungalow next to the road. This is on the bend as you bear right coming from the west, before you reach the Christian centre.

Plenty to do and see in Silverband area, best bet is to get hold of a copy of the following books - pick a good day can be a bit grim up their in winter or a bad day:

- The Lakes & Cumbria Mines Guide - Ian Tyler

- Mines of the West Pennines - British Mining No. 91 - Richard Smith & Sam Murphy

A third book to get - when it actually hits the bookshelves will be again by Ian Tyler - that is to to cover this area in good detail. Hopefully to be out latter this year.
