That's what I did a few years ago. It necesitated a traverse through brambles and over fallen trees, that eventually gets you there covererd in scratches. Straight up the incline and then getting sliced up in the brambles. When you reach the landslide you need to get to the top corner on the far side, then follow your nose to the top. I met a German couple when I was there and they had just walked straight down the hill from the mine which doesn't look very easy. IP: 81.157.245.11

I think you need to go through the grounds of the house - there are no markings suggesting that's the way to go, then into the woods over a stile, then keep right of the top workings, then down the side of a barbed wire fence - again through masses of brambles. I think the 'behind the transformer house' route is probably optimal, as bad as it is. IP: 86.162.32.11

For the drainage levels that are obviously flooded has anyone on here been down the hand line before and pressed on further into the flooded levels ? Also just asking for advice should I wear waders because of the battery acid type lemon juice water :lolr will a wetsuit be ok ? Obviously won’t go until bat season is over . The actual entrance to it can be traced by following a small stream of water that is coming out (water has found its way through). You can, of course, still get to the lower level by dropping down one of the old ore chutes – you need a little bit of kit to do it. The water down there is a deep clear red which goes milky as you wade through it, presumably because of the minerals. I understand that some of the pools in the upper level are extremely acidic. The water in the lower level is a weaker acid and can cause skin irritation and clothes rot. Since the exit to the drainage adit was blocked by the landslide, I wouldn’t consider entering the level at all without knowing about the air quality down there ….. If someone can tell me how to add a picture, I can post a few here (I did know, but I can't figure it out) Ian -- A door, once opened, may be stepped through in either direction. On my last trip I did go down the hand line and then walk past the ore shoots it keeps on going but got to the top of my wellies so bailed out because of not knowing if the water would burn me badly or if it would be acceptable. The air quality was very good but I understand this can change fast also we did not have 4x but was very clear air . If you attach the photos to your personal album you can then paste the link into the conversation for all to view . We found Addits 1,3,3,4 enterd the mine via 2 was hoping to be able to reach new unexplored ground in the lower drainage levels this is are next plan possibly with waders ? -- From the land of the pillar and stall IP: 176.252.118.34

I am keen to get back but I am genuinely worried about gas/fumes from the acid that is trapped as there is now no apparent airflow out of the lower adit (the water is coming through the landslide without any spare headroom) - perhaps someone with knowledge might be able to say "it's fine, go ahead" or "Jeepers, don't go anywhere near that" Ian -- A door, once opened, may be stepped through in either direction. You can smell the 'rotten eggs' at 1-2ppm. 2ppm is enough to cause nausea, headaches, etc. 50ppm is eye damage (usually temporary). Hit a high concentration (500+ppm) and it's immediate staggering and loss of strength, loss of consciousness in minutes, death soon after. SO2 (Sulphur dioxide) is possibly even worse. 3ppm for an hour is enough to cause permanent lung damage. It can affect breathing at 5ppm, and 100ppm is 'immediately dangerous to life'. I would suggest a backup air supply as being virtually essential. But I'm getting old, and a bit risk-averse ! IP: 80.189.176.27
