Does anyone have any info on this mine please. I have moved into a converted barn next to mine offices and I am interested in exploring the history of the mine. Thanks. IP: 86.180.13.74

A good starting point is 'The Van Mine' by George W. Hall in Welsh Mines Society Newsletter 60 pp. 6-18 (which can be found at http://www.hendrecoed.org.uk/wms/newsletter/60.pdf)

The article includes references to further material on the mine.

Hello Lizzie

In addition to Dave's recommendation, I would also suggest you get a copy of Nigel Chapman's book - The Van Mines. It can be obtained from Mike Moore's Bookshop:-

My grandfather used to drive the steam train up to the mine. They nicknamed the engine "The Fan Donkey".
