Multiple-LED Lamps
Posted: 23/11/2015 21:35:36 Reply | Quote Hi Anybody get any recommendations for the small multiple-LED lights that can be bought cheaply and provide good even lighting. I fancy experimenting with these. Are any more robust than others? Cheers Jon IP: 81.158.75.193 |

Posted: 24/11/2015 10:03:26 Reply | Quote Presumably you want an array of bare emitters for a photo flood? Mr Bif, the Rude Nora man was selling them a while back but now only seems to be offering the Nora and conversions. I would have thought the room light of your Scurion would do the job, or do you need something more powerful? -- May the Dragon shine upon you. Aaarrrrrrrr...... IP: 88.105.216.153 |

Very nice bit of kit, wish I'd bought one, but was too pricey for me at the time. And he doesn't seem to make them any longer. -- my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by IP: 194.28.139.41 |

Posted: 24/11/2015 14:29:54 Reply | Quote I've used these things to reasonable effect... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131291089118?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=430581143064&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT But to be honest they're only good for close ups, they're plenty hackable though if you're into that sort of thing. I enquired about the blind bat and unfortunately there probably isn't going to be a new one for a very long time. I'm still on the hunt for something better! -- FILTH IP: 95.172.232.42 |

Posted: 24/11/2015 21:53:43 Reply | Quote Hi we have been using something similar to this for the past few months. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-SKYRAY-15000Lumen-9x-CREE-XML-T6-LED-Flashlight-Torch-Tactical-Hunting-Lamp-/252164716071?hash=item3ab6303627 Getting some very acceptable hand held photos. You may get a hot spot where the lamp focus is; a piece of thin carrier bag makes a good diffuser, a rubber band will hold it in place IP: 89.168.146.1 |

You don't need to test, the LED spec'ed can give out at most 910lm, so x9 = 8190lm, 6810lm short of what is claimed. I'm sure it is extremely bright, but would still be brighter if the fresh air lumems did actually appear. -- Mr Mike www.mineexplorer.org.uk IP: 88.104.9.46 |

Posted: 25/11/2015 08:54:58 Reply | Quote One I bought for £20 claimed 6 X XM-Ls, they are not XM-Ls for a start and to make matters worse the 2 X genuine XM-L 2s at 3 amps that form the beam at max in my Lynx X3000 beats it rather obviously. The funny thing is that the Hong Kong sellers, DX, Kaidomain etc appear slightly more honest that the eBay sellers! As I said though still very good value for your money. Putting a plastic bag over the lens will disperse the light for photography. -- May the Dragon shine upon you. Aaarrrrrrrr...... IP: 88.105.216.153 |

Posted: 25/11/2015 09:31:11 Reply | Quote I'd estimate anything I've bought from eBay / China gave about 1/3 of it's stated light output. Like a 3,000 lumen headtorch which was comparable (almost) to something with a measured 1,000 lumens. So if 15,000 lumens is 5,000 lumens or even better 7,500 lumens (half the stated output) it's still going to be a very bright torch indeed and a lot of bang* for your buck ![]() -- my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by IP: 194.28.139.41 |

Posted: 25/11/2015 10:08:56 Reply | Quote Absolutely. But a slight warning, don't take for granted "waterproof", better to read this as "splashproof", other than this you will be OK. Another tip is to put decent batteries in it, avoid the cheap "fire" brands like the plague. I do wonder why the necessity to lie? So many do it. Honesty is part of my honour code, I wonder how politicians would get on with this? ![]() -- May the Dragon shine upon you. Aaarrrrrrrr...... IP: 88.105.216.153 |

Posted: 26/11/2015 15:10:46 Reply | Quote Mine has no name, just "Cree XM-L" on the side. 5 led's which "appear" to be directly driven from 4 off 18650 cells. It certainly is best with freshly charged batteries. Quite nice for lighting up big stopes, compact enough to go in a pocket, and worth the money If you already have the cells and a charger.
