Hi all!

I'm Joanne from out in Las Vegas. Some of you may remember me from mine-explorer. I recognize a few of the members here. One of your lads dropped into a forum that I frequent and mentioned AditNow. It got me thinking that I should drop in and to say hello.

I have lots of pictures of our dry mines if any of you would be interested in seeing them. SpeedyCaver and I have become great friends and have spent a lot of time exploring together over the last few years. In fact Speedy, my best friend, and I pitched in together and bought a mine claim together outside of Tonopah, Nevada. The mine has a history of gold production but we don't know if there's any left or not. Even if there's not a flake left, it's been worth every penny we paid for it. Of course I have pictures of our mine to share as well.

I know you from www.mine-explorer.co.uk days, welcome to AN Joanne.

It would be good if you added the mines to the international database and uploaded photos. I love looking at mines from other countries.

Me too, dem claws is a bit intimidating, time for a quick lesson in reverse speed crawling! Shocked

Suspect that scorpions and snakes might be harder to spot in time Crying

Welcome, I went into a Borax mine in Death Valley a few years ago, when I was working at Borax Consolidated. Memorable as one of my colleagues was frightened by a rattlesake just inside the entrance.

I had posted a reply earlier but I don't know where it went. Here's another try at it.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I've been crazy busy between my first job and my second job. Still try to find time to get out and do some exploring. My son is coming into town this weekend and we are going to head south of Las Vegas to a great mine that Tony and I have been exploring. We have to rappel down an air shaft to get into the mine so it doesn't see very much traffic.

Now if any of you are heading out to Las Vegas in the future, drop me a private message. If my schedule and your schedule work out, I'd be glad to take you out to see some of our mines.

Roy, Speedy is doing well. I chatted with him on the phone yesterday to coordinate his next trip out here.

Steve, I'm still on facebook but I don't post too much there. Everything is going along as well as expected... :-)

MrMike, I remember you as well. Glad that some of the folks are over here. Maybe it's because I'm a foreigner, but everyone was really nice to me. I'm guessing it's the same here. Nice folks tend to congregate together.

Simon, how do I go about adding locations to the database? I see the forum segmented into geographic areas, but not a link to a database per se. Am I just missing it? I'll be glad to help populate it with the mines that I have.

Coggy, Death Valley has an amazing number of mines all around it. We often head to the far south end to a group of mines just outside of Tecopa. Hope you had a great time there.

Snakes and scorpions are just part of the landscape out here. That said, I've only seen a few of either while I have been out exploring. One guy found a scorpion under his tent when he was rolling it up after the weekend of exploring. Quite the surprise!

Speaking of rattlesnakes, we kicked up this guy when we were out exploring on spring day. He never rattled or coiled up, but just wandered off and down a hole. Glad he wasn't in a bad mood.

Hi Joanne

Hopefully these instructions will help Smile Start here:

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Database/

(or click the 'Mines, Quarries & Sites' tab in the navigation menu)

You can search by country and narrow down by zone (map sheet here in the UK, state in the USA), you can view results as a list or as a map.

Easiest way of seeing if a mine is in the database is just to enter the name or just part of the name into the name search box, e.g. a USA at random - Comet just search on Comet.

If the mine / quarry isn't already in the database then click on the link in the orange 'Want to add a mine?' block on the right hand of the search page. That'll take you through to a form to complete to add the mine.

When you add the mine two photo albums are created automatically; one for regular photos and one for old/archive photos.

You can upload photos directly from the mine home page, so taking that Comet mine example again http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Mines/Comet-Gold-Mine_17558/ there is a link for 'Upload Photos' and another for 'Upload Archive/Historic Photos!'. These appear the same on all mines, click that and you can upload photos 10 at a time.

Hope all that made sense Flowers

Thank you! I have it now.

I had looked at the Mines, Quarries & Sites page but didn't see where to add new mines. After actually reading the page, I found the instructions on adding locations. Guess I should ask questions AFTER reading the page. :-)

I'll be uploading information over the next few months. I have a lot of pictures of the various mines we've been to.
