What caving harnesses do you guys use? I'm torn between getting a Petzl Fractio and a Singing Rock Digger. I've tried the Fractio and liked it but I'm not liking the price tag compared to the Singing Rock. Any suggestions? IP: 81.159.70.22

I use the Fractio and its ok.
Wouldd be a lot better with elastic to hold tha leg straps at the back and the leg loops a little wider for comfort.
I think SimplyExploring uses the singing rock and if its the same one it is definately better than the Petzl

I'v got a Petzl, not sure of the model number, but its afetching purple color. I think they also do red ones which are very nice. Not sure what colours the singing rock one is though... Big Grin

Oh... ok.. a serious answer. I have a big issure with my Petzl harness. It has 2 waist buckles which are a ****** to do up. The harness is badly designed so that help is needed to do up these buckles because, annoyingly, they are out of reach. The nice red one I bought recently for Wenders has only one buckle, so maybe its evolving & improving. The best thing to do is try them on. See if it fist ok, and if you are only ever going to use it for SRT. dont get a climbing harness.

Thanks for that. I think but not sure that The Miles uses a Singing Rock one too. I'll have to check when he's back from his hols. IP: 81.159.70.22

I use a singing rock climbing harness at the moment and I end up in a near horizontal position when hanging in free space which always alarms me a bit. Also, I'm getting too fat for it! IP: 81.159.70.22

Yep.. an SRT harmness holds you in a different position to a climbing harness. Climbing harnesses also tend to be a bit bulkier too.... which might be an issue depending on whether you are likely to do any crawling. 8) IP: 195.8.188.42

I've got a brand new, never used Fractio if you want to try one somewhere that's not very muddy?

I've not yet got to like it and it has some odd habits of thrusting one's wedding vegetables skywards...

I've got to like my Clog Centre climbing harness, albeit there are a few downsides to it. But, on the up side, it has a *R*ed leg strap on the *R*ight side and a black one on the left. They're also marked 'Left' and 'Right' Wink

But you're using a Singing Rock climbing harness I think, whereas the Digger/Torca are specific SRT harnesses.

Mouldy does have one (I think it's a Torca) it did seem (to me) a nicer harness and it much cheaper than the Petzl. He was unbearably smug about how much less it cost...

Thanks - I've already tried Barney's out and it was comfortable. Just spoken to the nice people at Inglesport and they recommend the digger which must be an honest opinion as it some 20 something quid cheaper than the torse. Me being a dumb blond they could have tried selling me all their most expensive gear! Smile

Just checked back and The Miles does indeed have a Torca - as does Wormster. With Mouldy away you could drop Wormster a PM to see what he thinks of it? IP: 83.148.135.213

I recently bought the Singing Rock Torca, and have to say for the money its great. I have always gone for a named makes like Petzl but took a gamble on this and was well worth it.

Very easy to use and very easy to adjust

Yeah I got one too. Not used it much but it's very nice, well worth the money, just make sure you order a big D malion with it as it don't come with one!

Yeah They don't come with a central maillion, but on the other hand they are VERY comfortable, easy to adjust and use.

Also worth getting hold of is one of those pretzle torse chest harnesses: http://en.petzl.com/petzl/SportProduits?Produit=142&Activite=26
Very easy to setup and use. IP: 81.132.105.178
