Just a general heads up, rather than a rigid "thou shalt" directive...

On selling stuff, either offered on this forum or promoting your ebay auctions for anything you're selling...

Firstly, this and other similar sites will take a very dim view on selling of stolen artifacts.

That aside, if you've got something of your own to sell... a lamp, photo kit, srt kit, books, whatever, please feel free to post it on the forum. In fact there is a for sale / wanted forum specifically for (relevant) adverts: http://www.aditnow.co.uk/community/viewforum.aspx?f=30

Similarly if you're auctioning something on eBay that would be of interest to members then feel free to post it up. However please make it clear you are the seller. None of this "I've been told such and such is on eBay" if it's your item Guns

If you are a commercial seller, if you've got a new relevant book, DVD or have just imported another Chinese mining lamp, then you can certainly promote it. If you've never posted before please drop us a line by email to check it's OK.

Regular users of the site will know that Mike Moore posts up occassional announcements of books for example, it's all useful to know and serves a purpose in announcing these things to people.

I hope that constitutes a sensible and transparent approach to selling things. The for sale / wanted forum was intended as a service to the community, you're welcome to use it for non-commercial adverts and occassional commercial if you've sought permission.

Personally, I would ask Graham what he thinks - it's his intellectual property.

On thread but away from the maps.

As everyone knows I produce and sell lamps as a small commercial business, and have a lamp thread on here as well as on mine-explorer.

Both Simon and Miles Moulding sell lamps themselves, and yet are as kind as to tolerate me. As such I describe the lamps I produce and publicise issues, design changes, and new models, and also try to help others produce their own lamps, but never attempt to 'push' my products.

I expect that even if I did this I would still be tolerated, however as a 'gentleman of honour' I will not do this.

No worries Jona. I think people can see it was a mistake rather than an attempt to profit from stealing the IP.

I am glad this has been sorted amicably. What made your post seem far worse than it was that it followed a recent nasty argument from someone who had stolen items from Dinorwic, posted them on eBay for sale. When challenged he sent out some quite nasty and arrogant replies. He is still putting them up for sale. Guns

I will make one final point on this though you asked your printer about doing this and he gave you severely incorrect information on copyright (probably to make sure he got the order). I would not use that printer again and advise him to look up the law!

Yes, I was coming from the Dinorwic affair and looking at things in general.

Plus, of course, the Dinorwic items were listed just a week after it was discovered the twin cylinder stem block had "vanished" from Wrysgan!

Tweak: Edited the post to show properly - Ed

Right all.
This has been well aired on all the sites.
I don’t think Mr Jona was intentionally doing anything he shouldn’t.

So my suggestion is, Mr Jona, welcome to aditnow.
