Dear All

A low resolution version of the animated video of Ystrad Einion Mine made by the RCAHM (W) has been placed on You Tube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BsTf6O24m8

This has been produced with assistance and funding from PLWM, CADW and Metal Links and input from the Welsh Mines Preservation Trust.

Best Wishes

Graham

They each have their merits its a shame they don't present more technical knowledge or dwell on the waterwheel which is well worth visiting

I am sure I saw a video on the RCAHMW website an animation that just showed the underground waterwheel and stayed on it for much longer than that clip. Either that or I am having a senior moment! IP: 78.150.139.117

You are correct John. As part of the survey work undertaken to produce the animation, a 3D laser scan was undertaken. It can be viewed on you tube:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_0nSJNKs0g&feature=youtu.be

Please bear in mind that the animation is not intended to be a definitive account for mining historians. It is intended for the general public, local schools etc. Where possible historical facts and details have been used. Where there are gaps in our knowledge of the mines history, machinery and processes we have used those that were in use in mines in the area at that time.

Regards

Graham

The size of the wheel mentioned in the English version was 5inches diameter! Lost in translation as in the Welsh version it mentions 5 metres diameter.
Excellent animation.
