I took a walk down from Dolgoch station on the Talyllyn railway recently and came across several old adits down by the stream. All were accessible but the first starting at a viewpoint was as if part of the path which lead to a shaft going downwards. I've been researching but all I've found are pictures named 'old mine adit'. Does anyone know what this mine/quarry is actually called?

Thank you very much.

Alun Richards' book calls this Dolgoch. As well as the shaft/adit by the lower falls, there are further adits upstream. One leads to a t-junction with passages either side, but no chambering to speak of.
Details on this site under 'Dol-goch' (the second) with pictures by 'Thorpey'

Most likely slate trials - a lot of the trials in the Foster-Smith volumes are assumed to be for metals when some are certainly for slate.
