Thanks, staying safe is my main aim, hence doing the research! just a shame that just because im new to the site people automatically assume that ive never done srt or had such experiences. I understand where your coming from, and would always be happy to meet people with stuff to teach me, as long as they dont great me like i have been on these forums! thanks once again IP: 212.183.128.107

So rather than jumping in with BOTH feet and getting our backs up, why no do the POLITE thing and introduce yourself: Explain WHO you are, YOUR individual SKILL set, and a bit more about yourself.

Some of us have been at this game for more years than you've had hot dinners laddie, and coming in here barging about will only upset us Cursing

OK, he did ask his intial question directly. ... But sorry, I cannot see what the guy did to get anyone's back up. What 'barging about'? As I mentioned elsewhere, I have no axe to grind and most heartily agree with all the posts concerning safety, experience etc. But I am a bit perplexed by the aminosity of posts such as this one.

My point has not changed, having ploughed through some of your youtube content, my stance remains the same, be polite, ask questions, gain knowledge and do it all safely.

The thing about all this is that if someone wants to risk their life doing something iffy underground in a cave, thats OK. Even if there is an accident, its just another stat.

Sprain an ankle underground in a disused mine, and its different. The hand wringing starts, calls to seal the place up, gates, grills, padlocks, cameras, etc, etc.
The point being it comes back on the rest of us.
Maybe this explains athe animosity.

Asking questions and trying to gain knowledge to do this tip safely is how this started, i also started being polite until people like yourself were just rude for no apparent reason. And again to people like yourself "who have been in the game for more years then ive had hot dinner" what do my videos show? IP: 212.183.128.107

I completely understand your view, ive heard of competent cavers or mine explorers being rescued in the last year due to not having sufficient kit, i would like to think at least ive got enough knowledge to bring the correct and adequate gear. IP: 212.183.128.107

Yes I noticed - Albert's Eye ? Big Grin Of course, you didn't do the whole trip dressed like that!

By the way, It's in Manor Farm Swallet, not Charterhouse Cave. Smile

not Charterhouse Cave.

Yes I'd noticed that as well, and, was wondering considering the access agreement just how they would have got in.

Thanks for pointing out the correct cave, not one I have visited yet, maybe one day I will (with a little more suitable clothing methinks!)

I think that this is going to go on and on.
I am not familiar with this trip so I suggest that someone who is, gives the man a list of tackle requirements, pitch lengths, safety considerations etc, which is basically what he is asking for.
Then leave it at that.

19th October. So what? If it were April 1st I could understand Smile

Even as a raw novice I understood the relevance of wearing adequate clothes to keep warm in wet caves. All I was doing was pointing out the irony of your comment about using proper gear when little over a year ago it appears you might have been caving effectively naked - in what is often quite a smelly cave - smelly from stuff that you find in farmyards. I hope you didnt get any cuts or grazes infected Shocked Also why I suggested you might have stripped off just for the buzz?

Good idea, lets leave it at that, thanks to the people who have actually been helpful instead of obnoxious. I have found some detailed reports and have contacted someone about possibly guiding us through. cheers IP: 212.183.128.107
