Many years ago, before the adit was locked up very securely, we went for a massive wander in here aided by a so-so plan of the workings. Several years ago, we went back in and couldn't find about 3 or 4 wagons lying on their sides in a stope.

I'm just looking at a half decent plan of the workings and I can't think for the life of me where they were. It was a bloody horrible trip.

A couple of questions to anyone who may know.

1. Were the wagons on North Pig lode near the "balcony" (that section has rails or was it out somewhere by weathered shaft?

2. Was/is it possible to get out as far as Wheal Carne Shaft?

The wagons were in a grotty granite stope which was quite large. Everything was covered with a greeny yellow efflorescence.

At some point when a trip goes in there with full permission and I have a chance to join it, I'd be interested in seeing those wagons again. I know there is an end tipper upstairs, but these were on deep adit.

Long time ago for me but I remember doing some clearing out on the adit level that spews out just above sea level at the bottom of the cliffs, had to scramble down the cliff with banjos picks etc, a soaking wet job....bloody cold walking back from cliff top to the dry with a northerly wind blowing....brrrr….a blue lips jobShocked

I remember heading up carne way once with the chief engineer, Bob Orchard, I have a feeling it was to check some water head (pressure?) seem to remember that they used to pull water from there for the mill.

5 level or 8 level from Victory to head out that way seems to ring a bell although I could be wrong, I remember we had to traverse the bottom of Wethered shaft to get to the location at carne to do the test.
