Wanted - Mine Head gear Wheel (half)
Posted: 24/08/2019 20:08:21 Reply | Quote A friend of mine has asked me how much one half of a former coal mine head gear would be worth. They want to put one in the middle of a village in Derbyshire (Westhouses) which had quite a coal mining industry up to a few decades ago. They want to commemorate this in some way. Can anyone help please? IP: 86.150.0.65 |

(click image to open full size image in new window) Edit: The image is from 2006, was still there in 2013 but does not appear on latest sat images. Both halves were there in 2013. Just guessing on this one, but I reckon about half what you’d pay for a complete one (less the cost of the bolts). And complete ones are about twice the price of the halves. ![]() |

Not much to see there currently, most people don't even realise they've changed village when entering from blackwell ![]() -- "I got enough batteries to live down here indefinitely!" The mining pedant in me says that a memorial head gear wheel should be pretty much the same dimensions as the originals. IP: 86.169.12.134 |

The top halfs are always in better nick, cause the bottom is more prone to damp & rust. -- We inhabit an island made of coal, surrounded by a sea full of fish. How can we go wrong.......
