Im presently reading a book about the North Bute (USA) copper mine disaster 1917. The book has a wider scope than the mine itself but there’s a YouTube video of a lecture by another author that’s pretty good and may be of interest.

168 men perished after a Forman accidentally ignited a split lead sheathed electrical cable they were lowering 2400 feet after it slipped and tangled! The speaker describes the mine operation and how the miners tried to manage or escape.

Doug Amons. A Darkness Lit by Heroes: Granite Mountain-Speculator Mine Disaster of 1917.
