hi Jim,
Sorry you did not contact me about this one!
I am standing, behind the late John McNeil, and in front of your dad.
My son Robert, is in the mine, an next to him is John Stott.
Two, then coal miners complete the picture, will look up the date and fill in the names of the then coal miners.

Hi John,

Sorry for the oversight, Boy Engineer has also supplied some names so I'll get the annotations corrected in a little while, a date would be good.

Complete picture, taken in August 1988, is as follows, from left to right.
Norman Birkitt, Dave Warriner, Mike Luff,(all at that time employed by the NCB), John Stott(long time warden of Magpie Cottage, inside the level my son Robert.
On the other side of the entrance, Dave Sargent, behind him,John Mcferson and next to him and behind John McNeil,
Myself.
The party was off to Admiralty Flats, on High Raise Second Sun Vein. This had been laddered in the mid 1970's by a Derbyshire Barytes Company, who also, looked at the Wellhope Shaft workings on the same Vein. Here someone, blasted a way into the workings, at the bottom of the shaft, The V.M. company never made this connection, since they were more interesting in encouraging the air to go along the horse level, rather than up the shaft.
This company subsequently, operated the Sraithole mine.
