One man appears to be holding a piece of card in front of his face! If he didn't want to see the loco, why not just face the other way?

I see these people everywhere these days, wandering round with a huge "tablet" computer taking pictures?
Just surprised that there was not someone using a "selfy stick" to get themself in the picture! Cursing

When I took my niece to see the Changing of the Guard there was an impressive amount of selfie stick jousting going on. We managed to get some sort of view by engaging in some 'full contact queuing'.

On topic, I see some fellow has got a free trip to the States from Virgin after one of their trains ruined his videoing of the Flying Scotsman by passing on the closer track at an inopportune moment.

Well, yes. It's surprising how many people don't understand this.

When I was watching at Peterborough, there was a group on the UP side.. the viaducts there are actually a twin viaduct, with a gap between them so although they would have seen FS, the view would have been partly obstructed - but they could have either walked up the stair to Town Bridge proper, or walked through the arches to the DOWN side...

There's a similar lack of understanding regarding miles/chains markers in tunnels.

It also hauled a passenger-carrying trip (with sensible fares) over Shap and the Settle and Carlisle line on 6 February, so it wasn't even the maiden main line run on 25 February.
