The deep adit has been reopened by the author Michael Brown and reveals a lot of interesting archaeology.
Although Bick mentions flat rods I believe the mine was pumped by a wire rope, this appears to have been supported by pulleys mounted in the roof of the main level This is extremely large at about 8 ft or more wide and high, driven as a crosscut straight as an arrow The portal lines up with the Rhoswydol Engine shaft over the valley and my have both been pumped on the same system

The angle bod is set in a pit in the floor and the rising main is above it. The spear of the pump (bucket pump) and the connecting rod of the angle bob run parallel into a short rise in the roof of the level There is the remains of a timber cross piece which probably ran in guides similar to a cage guides to prevent the assembly from wobbling about

There is a chamber on the next lode with a timber set into the roof This probably carried a pulley over which the wire rope passed with a tensioning weight

Other adits in the area have also been reopened, including the important Prossers Level, however this is not accessible except after pumping out.
