I see the UKCaving wiki has a page for info about "web communities". ME has an entry but AN doesn't. Is there any reason why I shouldn't add one?

OK I have added a link with the tagline "An alternative database and discussion forum for U.K. and overseas mine exploration - for mine historians and explorers."

Alternative?, well, although you could promote the argument that certain forum members are 'alternative', I'm not sure it's necessary to describe the entire forum in that way.

If you actually bother to check the context, Chris, it reads as an alternative to ME. Maybe you are bit too quick to criticise without checking. There seems to have been a little too much of that lately in some quarters and it reflects badly on those who do it. For those who can't be bothered to visit the wiki, the complete entry reads:

Web-based communities are fast growing groups from any area of wide ranging abilities joining or working together as a virtual group, different to a club in many ways but not working at odds with clubs. The ukcaving forum is a prime example of a web community of mostly caving club and non-club cavers and explorers of Man-made underground sites.

darkplaces.co.uk - Underground Exploration (covers the above in general)

mine-explorer.co.uk - An online database for U.K. Mine Exploration - A pure mine explorers website.

AditNow - An alternative database and discussion forum for U.K. and overseas mine exploration - for mine historians and explorers.

I've expanded the AN entry a bit to:

A comprehensive online database and discussion forum for U.K. and overseas mine exploration. Covers active mine exploration and mining history. The database contains in excess of 12,000 UK mines.

No doubt Simon can correct me as regards the size of the database Wink
