Silkstone Fall Coal Mine Visit
Went in the snow, which hid some ground features. There is a very interesting Shaft heapstead which on closer examination I think may have been used for pumping given the layout of the nearby ruinous building. The entire wood is full interesting raised paths hillocks, stones and tips with some building remains. There is also a large embankment terminating on a clear abutment that I believe lead from the building complex at the shaft to the tip. I think on a clear autumn day this site still has much to offer in terms of finds.
