In the plantation, wherein the Blythe Mines were located, was a shaft containing one of the famous water pressure engines. Over 40 years ago, the collar of one of these gritstone ginged shafts was visible beside the footpath. Beautifully constructed with dressed masonry (like many hereabouts) one could peer into it's depths and ponder. Alas, now destroyed at surface, or at least, I have not unearthed it since.
