Engraved Initials in Stripy Vein

Several chambers in the Stripy Vein exist just off Cwmorthin's Old Vein B floor landing that were cut by the Oakeley company in the 1920's. This chap HDE presumably was one of the rockmen who worked in the chamber as he's written his name in a number of places. This particular inscription is quite large and he clearly put some effort into it. There is a lovely old smoking pipe close by, perhaps it was his too. No idea what HDE stands for, the mans initials I assume but his full name I don't know. I wonder if records still exist from this period?
