Worthy Causes
We have identified a number of worthy causes relating to mining and mine exploration to which you might like to make a donation.
Please note that AditNow is not connected with these bodies in any way, we just support their efforts in the area of research and preservation.
Friends of Cwmorthin
Friends of Cwmorthin is a voluntary group of individuals working hard to secure access to one of Wales' most spectacular underground slate quarries.
Their work includes both securing and maintaining physical access to the mine as well as negotiating access with the land owner. Most recently the group has arranged insurance cover for the mine securing its long term access.

Geevor Tin Mine
Geevor Tin Mine, Pendeen, Cornwall, was a working mine until the 1990s. The site was then bought by Cornwall County Council to stop it being totally erased.
It is now run by Pendeen Community Heritage, a registered charity and not for profit company which runs the site as a visitor centre, all the revenue is ploughed back into the site. The aims are:
- The conservation of the unique heritage of the site and its 4000+ years of history - especially the underground workings
- The use of the site for all forms of education
- The creation of sustainable employment in one of the most economically deprived areas of the UK
