Whitwood (Briggs) Coal Colliery (United Kingdom)

Known in the NCB era as Whitwood it had originally been the HQ of the Briggs family of collieries which had included Snydale and Water Haigh amongst others. It covered an extensive site - now a light industrial retail park - which included a gas works. Visitors to 'Diggerland' are almost on the spot.
