Swansea Vale Zinc Smelter (United Kingdom)


It was only with the closure of this smelter in 1974 that the region was finally rid of smelter smoke, and only through the efforts of the Lower Swansea Valley Project that "one of the most concentrated areas of industrial dereliction in the British Isles" was finally rehabilitated.
