North Risca Black Vein Colliery Coal Mine (United Kingdom)

Site lost below Risca bypass, see also Risca black Vein and Waun Fawr Collieries.
Originally know as the 'New Pits', this colliery was sunk in 1875 and the first coal raised in 1878 from the original Black Vein seams. However this mine was just as dangerous as at Waun Fawr such that another 120 miners died in a gas explosion in 1880.
The mine eventually closed in 1967 and has become the site of the North Blackvein Industrial Estate.
