Irchester Iron Quarry (United Kingdom)


Production commenced in 1863 by Butlin bevan & Co, the T.Butlin & Co Ltd from 27.6.1889, James Pain Ltd from 1912, Irchester iron Co Ltd from 1922, and finally Sth Durham Steel & Iron Co Ltd from 1953. The working near irchester itself closed circa 1953 with the remainder closing in the 60s. These extensive workings were to be found from NGR SP912660 to 913649.
