The mine began extracting lead in 1723. The engine house contained a three inch engine and a shaft that went down 80 fathoms (480 ft) but it has no adit. The real name of the mine is 'cross vein mine' but it is better known as 'Snuff the wind'. The mines whim engine house is still there with a chimney and a spoil heap but apart from that there's nothing left.
