Alder Gulch Gold Mine (United States)

On the evening of the 26th May, 1863, two prospectors, Fairweather and Edgar, discovered gold at Alder Gulch and sparked off the Montana gold rush.
Towns such as Virginia City and Nevada City sprung up and in the first five years the gulch produced thirty to forty million dolars of gold.
