I fear they may be disappointed, I believe it's necessary to be a young attractive female recording yourself playing computer games in your pants to make anything more than pin money.

I really really hope you are not speaking from personal experience there, "Alex"!!!

Its a thought........

I think we all have to be extremely careful what we upload.
Information is everything!
Unfortunately there have always been people who are casually interested in going underground.
However they need to know where they can go reasonably safely, hence my comment at the start!
Before U tube Robert & I have met people underground without helmets, claiming that wearing them made them sweat too much!
Not to mention a football match in the Smallcleugh ballroom, complete with accompanying dogs!
Unfortunately as I have stated we just all have to be very careful what we post up!

If we're talking about publicly accessible, sensitive information surely aditnow itself is the biggest culprit? Guns

If its felt that the problem is people finding out about mines through Youtube in a negative way how about having a DCA (or PDMHS, NAMHO, CAL take your pick) Youtube channel with the information in the letter imparted in video form? In time it could build with suitable videos showing exploration in the manner we want to encourage people to undertake it. At least there is more of a sporting chance of the message reaching Youtube viewers if it is imparted through Youtube!

I think a few years back there was an Aditnow Youtube channel wasn't there?

That is an interesting idea and it might have some legs. Unfortunately I'd regard myself as more of a face for radio type person, so we'd need to find a willing 'presenter'.

The AditNow YT channel is still there.

I have a YT channel but it's used almost exclusively for engineering related stuff.

Looking at the likes of "exploring in trainers" there's a definite need for social approval / ego inflation going on - "Let's hit 2000 likes guys" and so on.

Makes me want to create a spoof film of an underground explore. I'll call it "exploring with Fucktards" and it goes without saying there'll have to be an intro where I explain that I'm risking my life for the benefit of the viewers. I'll choose somewhere with a rail tracks and a compressed air main inside, then repeatedly refer to it as a 'cave'. Haha.

Thanks to those who've made some comments ultimately more helpful than my own, especially the effort from Pete with the publicity about why mines are locked. That's a positive move and well written.

A shame, unfortunately you do need to get a good number of thongs into the final edit to make the big money - as noted previously.

As they style themselves explorers, why are they not able to find their way around with both a compass and a map? Even Scott of the Sahara could have made a better job of it. IP: 194.205.13.2

Totally agree with everything that's been said, there are a few YouTubers out there that are just after the views and the cash along with it, they really don't care what happens at all and if it brings the wrong attention to any mine's/c**es, I could name a few but I won't, they know who they are,I will leave it at that.GunsGuns

Looking at the other, ahem, content.
Its clear to see they are just after maximum views with the stupid click bait titles.
Most people watching those videos wont bother their arse going underground, its just the ones who think they can do it for money that will try it on.

I know for a really nice looking co*l level. Beyond a roof fall lies a really tantalising heading in perfect nick. Also beyond the roof fall is a complete absence of oxygen.

Maybe I might write off to their PO Box number suggesting they take an explore to it? "It's really dangerous and we are risking our lives to bring you this". I mean, if they can't even get themselves hard hats, well, they probably haven't even heard of a 4-gas. Problem solved? GunsGunsGuns

Not really Wink

Information is corralled hierarchically and anything discovered on public display which should not be on public display is removed from public display.

I'm not really sure what repercussions an UG fatality could have on other areas of mine exploration, probably better if they had a sobering close call. IP: 109.149.64.46

Take them into somewhere suitably rabbit warrened, leave them, but shadow them fumbling about. Go get them when a suitable panicked has been deemed to be achieved.

Not that I'd do anything like that to big-headed know-it-alls that would otherwise off themselves into a deep chamber if left to their own devices. Wink
