Anyone any details or have I missed it somewhere? -- 'Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again' [Henri Cartier Bresson] IP: 82.69.55.41 |

These for 2003,2004,2005,2007,2008. They comprise of many of his photographs taken during those years - mainly surface views - together with various items such as "Mines Inspector's Report on district No9 1896" and other bits and bobs. One is entitled 'Catalogue of shame' showing the wholesale destruction of sites including open cuts filled with old cars and sundry junk. There are also a few photos of Albert his favourite cat! A great fella. He came to my house once in 1987 when Hilary was doing her Mining Facsimiles reprints to pick up his copies of "History of the Cardiganshire mines (1874)" and we had to haul in an extra supply of ash trays to accommodate his spent rollups ! He related to me his exploits with 'bang' including when he made some nitroglycerin mixture which was deposited in the boys' toilet channel and which had spectacular results. Fact or fiction, it was a great yarn. Another of life's characters who will leave a big gap in the ranks and very sad news. -- 'Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again' [Henri Cartier Bresson] IP: 82.69.55.41 |
