Some visits are full already hopefully more opportunities will be added like 2019.

I have just amended my booking as new information was added in the last couple of hours

Finally got my act together and completed bookings for myself and Nikki, you were right some of the trips booked up already!

This year we will be coming down in the motorhome and making a leisurely return over the Easter weekend.

Looking forward to it!

I have opted out of the South Crofty visit on the Monday thus releasing a space- as it was previously full

If you are sitting at home like us and you are disappointed at the cancellation of the InterNAMHO Conference in Cornwall, due to Covid-19, and are missing your Cornish mining fix we thought we'd make a few snippets available of Cornish mining activity from some of our DVD productions and compilations on our vimeo channel.

Links to them are at https://www.iarecordings.org/snippets/snippets.php

Hope you enjoy them.

PS: Thanks to Kevin, Nigel and Rick for all their hard work in preparing for InterNAMHO 2020, sorry it had to be cancelled.

Thanks for the kind thought. I should have been giving a paper today and leading trips next week Sad

Looking forward to Shropshire in 2021.

Can't help thinking NAMHO's in the south west are cursed!

2000: Most field trips cancelled at short notice
2007: Death of the pig man / website hijacked and replaced with p0rn/ the premature announcement of Bob W and my deaths.
2020: Global pandemic.

On the positive side the first one had nothing to do with me!

As I said I am really looking forward to Shropshire. One place I would love to see a conference would be Cleveland. We are also overdue a conference in the Dales.

Yes, it's a great shame, it's a much anticipated event each year. 2007 was the first one I attended and I had a fantastic time as I have at every one since, I think the only one I've missed was the one in Scotland.

Being as the NAMHO 2020 Conference did not go ahead this weekend due to the Dreaded Lurgi that is sweeping the globe right now, I will be suggesting that there should be a sizable NAMHO presence at this year's Hidden Earth which should hopefully still go ahead this September. I am on good terms with both Peter Jackson and BCA chairman, Les Williams and I will be suggesting it if and when I see them when the lockdown ends. IP: 77.97.168.136

It would be nice to think that , however, the conferences are two very different beasts . I understand a lot of the lecturers were from far and wide (europe) for NAMHO , there are no field meets at HE . Last I heard Les hadn't been able to sort a venue and it is going to be very difficult to find one with all the School closures and no one is seriously going to consider anything in September . We must not get ahead of ourselves. I'm not a doom and gloom merchant but I very much doubt the virus will have completely disappeared in time for the team to put out the publicity and do bookings etc.

At this stage it would better to look forward to 2021 and maybe have Cornwall in 2022 .

Cornwall will be closed in 2022 due to a plague of locusts.

I will not be too surprised if Hidden Earth 2020 does not go ahead as there will not be much to report due to the global lockdown. Indeed Hidden Earth 2018 probably would have not gone ahead if it weren't for the events in Thailand that year.
Having said that and I do not like doom and gloom, I am pretty sure that 2021 is going to be a great year for everybody as we will be living in a post-COVID-19 world then. The NAMHO 2021 conference is already planned for Shropshire in July then not far from Snailbeach Mines. (PS For good pubs near there I strongly recommend the Bridges at Ratlinghope).

I suspect the best we can hope for in 2020 is a reasonably timely lifting of restrictions and a return to club/local small scale events, especially given the suggestions that there may be alternating periods of stricter/looser restrictions for a while making big events tricky to plan.

The final snippet to bring our 'virtual' InterNAMHO 2020 to a close is now available on our snippets page: https://www.iarecordings.org/snippets/snippets.php
and vimeo channel: https://vimeo.com/404342802

It was recorded during the excellent 2000 InterNAMHO conference on a tour of the working processing mill at Wheal Jane and included a demonstration of tin smelting.

Hope to see everyone in Shropshire in 2021 Thumbs Up

Cheers!
