Was the other Gwilym Eryri called William E Powell, from Milwaukee? From "Baner ac Amserau Cymru" 15th July,1874 is a letter from William Powell criticising William Roberts for using the same bardic name:-

The 1851 census shows a William Roberts, and 4 siblings, living with his widowed mother,Catherine, and his grandparents, henry Jones (shipbuilder) and grandmother, Margaret.

The 1861 census shows a William Roberts living with his mother and grandfather at Lombard Street, Portmadoc.

The 1891 census shows William Roberts (sailmaker) living with his wife , Mary, and 10 children in Cellar 3 Number 5 Back of Britannia Terrace, Portmadoc.

I have yet to find any information on his death.

I cannot, as yet, find an obituary for him! It seems he died about 1895.(http://www.worldcat.org/identities/lccn-no2008-53169/) It is also very odd that there were two Gwilym Eryri's. There are hardly any other instances of the same bardic name being used by two different people. IP: 5.80.94.54
