Last couple of times I have been to Moel Fferna I have looked for this wagon:

(click image to open full size image in new window)

but can't find it.

I have DEFINITELY seen it in the past; a few years ago.

Where is it??
Am I losing my mind?
Has it gone?
Been moved?
Where to?
Has it been turned over and had it's wheels stolen??

Any ideas?

Cheers! Flowers

We went last year, I'm pretty sure its had its wheels nicked and is upside down at one of the junctions on the 3rd level. I'll find a pic i know i have one.

If the image is on AN and you can find it then open the photo and copy and paste the link that is displayed below the photo into the thread.

If the image is not on AN then upload it to your personal album and copy and paste the link from there Thumb Up

Wonderful. Can't depend on SRT to provide any kind of knobber filtration then.

Yes I think you are correct, I guessed that what had happened to it Sad
Dr J took some photos of the upturned wagon on Sunday. It is in very good condition and looks suspiciously like the same one Angry

Those pair of wagons that I was photographing were at the incline head up on Floor 6, and have been there as is for a long while, mapped on surveys of the mine, and certainly extant as are when I first visited back in 2009..

Wherever this solitary wagon is (was), going to be a totally different one, and don't recall seeing anything that could be its remains during our trip... But, we didn't spend much time on floor 3, if that is where it resides, in whatever form now... Praada's photos might provide the only answers to the case!

That's floor 7 isn't it? A chamber or so on from the chamber where the pump (usually) lives (pump is on 6 IIRC)?

Yes, the pump is still on Fl6 although not sure for how long....the wobbly leg looks as though it is about to collapse at any time Sad
It is a shame to mess with an old artefact like this but in this case it needs a repair ASAP. If it falls over it will be ruined. Nice little project for someone.....Off Topic sorry!

Back to the wagon, definitely don't remember seeing it this time.
I'm sure it was on Fl 6 in the "furthest left hand chamber" as you look up the 5-6 incline? Whatever, its gone now! Blink

It could well be that floor then, the photo of the upturned cart i have, is followed by the pump in my gallery so they were an photo opportunity apart on my visit, we went up from the incline and zig zag down the levels (as best we can anyway)

I'm sure that the wagon has been turned over and had its wheels nicked! It's the only one in good enough condition to be the one I remember Blink

I'm taking a few bits and pieces of bar and tube with me next time to repair the leg on the pump. I don't usually mess around with artefacts but I think this one is worth preserving Thumb Up

Give us a yell, I'll see if I can get away.

If you look at the right hand side, it's caved in the same place, and has part of the lip coming away, so I'm fairly happy it's the same wagon. Of course I'm less happy some ****'s nicked the wheels. Same happened in Penarth to the weird yellow cart. I suspect a local railway enthusiast needs his fingers snapping.

Laugh Haha I was hoping that a friendly welder/fabricator in the North East Wales area might volunteer to assist. You took the bait. Nice one. I'll be in touch.

Guaranteed its the same one mate.

I had forgotten about the modern yellow one in Penarth. Hell of a coincidence Cursing Guns Angry

I would imagine the penarth one the wheels were just half inched for scrap value as p-way trolleys are aluminium wheels.

Im guessing the cast iron ones from this cart were sold on I'm sure I've seen small wagon wheels on eBay for £300+

It's a fair trek up and in with a portable grinder just to pinch 4 small Alu wheels. There's far easier ways to get that kind of weight in Alu to weigh in.

I don't think there's any doubt it's a railway enthusiast or someone is offloading them to said railway enthusiast.
