Not so sure about a bargain. As well as classic cars it may also come with an environmental decontamination order/liability.

I understand that the quarry was the property of a nearby outdoor activity centre which has recently gone out of business... hence the sale.

Meanwhile following a lot of recent over exposure to the part of the mine that's full of cars mostly via YouTube from the umbex crowd showing inexperienced, poorly informed and badly equipped explorers entering the mine, the local Community Council is getting somewhat twitchy about the place and there is some talk of sealing it off as a result.

Last time I was there I found two teens in the upper levels.... spliff in mouth, no hard hats, crap battery lantern and iPhone as substitute for head torches... but they did have an umbrella each for the drips. They advised us to turn back as "there are rocks further in" Laugh

A local contact tells me that the MoD have also noticed the YouTube footage and are also getting uneasy... it seems that they used part of the mine for some purpose in the past and are concerned about people encountering whatever it is that they left down there.

Hullo all, I’m new to this forum and just noticed this post, a subject that I know a little about.
Tyn y berth outdoor centre did not own the mine just a lease to use it as part of their activities, the owner was a London estate agent who leased it to tyn y berth free of charge fair play to him!.
There is no interest in the quarry from the local council nor the mod and hopefully never will be!. Wish I could say the same about the casual trespassers.

Interesting, that is not what I'd been told by a resident of Corris with connections to the Community Council also a locally based business with an interest in the mines of the area.

Rumour mill!
