Noted the Monument trip on Friday doesn't kick off until 4pm.

I have heard, but cannot confirm, that the Friday trips to Monument and Morse's Level actually start at 14:30, not 16:00.

I maybe turn up quite a bit earlier and see what the crack is.

Had a great time myself at NAMHO 2018 and I am already looking forward to next year's event at the Cambrian Mines Trust in Wales. Great trip down Wigpool Ironstone Mine, my photos from that visit are on Google at: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CqoHdTq5kv4LpBMl1 IP: 92.4.203.164

I had a very good time and am now glad that I went.

However I have to call it as I see it.
Trip start times given were wrong in some instances and also the map reference for meeting points was incorrect in some instances, and this resulted in me missing a trip I had booked on. If I had not picked up on the start times on this website I would have missed 2!

Also, description of 'technicalities' on one trip was nonsense. I was expected to do something that my common sense told me was downright dangerous so I refused. As such the trip was modified.
If H and S is OTT its a nuisance, but if its inadequate it gets people killed or injured.

The Faddle was ticket only although I did not require the meal so I could not mingle and natter as I would have liked to do.

I am sorry if I upset some people but its only by bringing things into the open that we learn our mistakes for benefit of the future.

Having said all of this, I did have a very good time and it was very nice to meet old friends.

Nobody checked or collected the faddle tickets, so you could have come in and nobody would have noticed. Not that this information is of any use to you now, Roy! IP: 185.13.50.230

A very enjoyable time had by me in some places I've never been to before and will have to come back to explore some more. Getting into Windrush was the highlight for me having grown up 6 miles away!

I would have preferred maps & directions to the trip sites than grid refs but by talking to people and checking out beforehand I managed OK.
There didn't seem to be available cooking facilities at the bunk house, though I didn't check beyond the staff kitchen so probably my bad.

I was OK on accommodation as i made my own, an air bed in the back of the car! Weather was great and cooked bacon and eggs outside on a folding table.

I was allowed to use the showers and facilities in the bunk house, agreed before hand. I think that whatever failings were down to 'right hand and left hand', people certainly put the effort in.

A Noxon Park trip I was on had "NAMHO" signs all the way to the assembly point, the leader was sterling in effort, but great shame, only me and one other on the trip.

I seem to recall suggesting on the night that you could go to the Faddle and not have the meal...

Glad you enjoyed at least some of it, we look forward to your organising next year!

Point is Roy you are not stupid and all you needed to was ask about going to Faddle with out having food.

I do have a criticism the Vegetarians were not catered for on Friday night vegetarians do not eat fish or they would be pescatarian . The same on Saturday would have been useful to have cheese at least as an alternative for none boar eaters. It did arrive after a lot had exited the chamber. Personaly I enjoyed the pork

There was a tray next to the boar of something which I was told was vegetarian, but it was being served with the same tongs as the meat and was therefore no longer vegetarian. Sad Fortunately there were plenty of salads which were suitable for those who didn't eat pork.

I think information should be freely available without having to ask. 'Asking' could be perceived as attempting to take advantage.
Also, 'ask who'. Was there someone in overall charge?
If so, then who?

Its a bit like going on to some land and when challenged " Jack said it was OK"
"Its not Jacks land, its mine"

Perhaps we should now say that this is something to note for action in 2019 onwards and bring this discussion to a close.

It could be conceived as such but there was a reception open throughout the weekend and by asking if you could attend without food was hardly taking any advantage as it hadn't been advertised as an option. The whole purpose of a reception is to gain information and details if required .The fee also included the transport which I'm sure you would have contributed

@gNick - glad to hear you enjoyed Windrush. I spent several years digging various collapses in there to get into Windrush '2', '3' and '4'.

Miss my regular Thursday nights since moving away to Wales...
