are my GPS fixes of :

MUDDY HOLE : ST 79652 66066
SHAKESPEARS : ST 79482 65885

accurate enough for navigation - even by someone who has never visited ???

if they are significantly erroneous - can someione give me better NGRs ???

IIRC, the 10 figure NGRs are irrelevant as the crater covers several metres in both width and length?
You can not miss it if you get to an 8 figure reference, that's assuming you satnav works under the tree cover!

hey - thanks folks - i shal print with what i has .

i didnt reallise the MCA cave directory was so extensive -

as for sat nav - mine gives a 10 ~ 15m CEP in mixed woodland with good horizons

yup - muddy hole depression is pretty obvious once close - its shakespears i was worried abolut - only visited once - and cold // dark // raining - just following a guy who knew the way

are there any other holes that could be mistaken by people who has never seen it [ withjin a " reasonable " error distance ] or is it the only possible hole ?

Personally I'd say if you're going down, just use MH, it's the nearest thing to an 'official' entrance as well as being closest to the car park.

Much of the gates you will see are in the protected bat roost areas looked after by the Avon Wildlife trust and there's really no point causing potential issues by trying to access out of bounds areas.

Best thing to do, head for the Quarrymans Arms and purchase one of their A3 laminated maps. Oh and the food and beer are top notch!
