Sorry to report that recently, people have leaving their lunch remains in several chambers. I've picked up litter during my last few visits and friends have reported more.

Now over this last weekend, someone has burned some scraps of timber off the base of the Ch 34 incline and then daubed graffiti over an adjacent wall with the charcoal.

The Friends of Cwmorthin are doing their best to keep the mine exactly as the old men left it and keeping access open for genuine mine explorers so this is a bit galling to say the least. Cursing

PLEASE, if you are a visitor, abide by the rules - enjoy the wonders of Cwmorthin but take only photographs and leave only footprints. Remind your friends too.

Thanks, Clive

I have always brought the odd bottle and crisp packets out of the compressor chamber when I'm there. There's always someone who will leave something behind. Think its amazing that my ammo can is still there Smile IP: 92.20.65.215
