I will be staying just over the road from here later on in May.

Just wondering if there is any underground access?

If that's the one you see from the main road, there's been a big yellow digger working there recently.
Sorry, I've never been any closer for a look.

Assuming you mean Tyb-y-bryn at Dolwyddelan then the adit is blocked near its entrance and where it was believed to exit in the Twll. In all probability this was purely for drainage. This information is based on a visit in 1987. IP: 86.165.128.244

Had a wander about there on Sunday: Big yellow digger at the bottom.
The Twll itself has a wet Adit on the second level: Goes in about eighty feet and comes to a dead. Couldn't find any other adits. However was chatting to a chap in the car park who seems adamant that it was mined underground extensively. I couldn't find any entry points though, not even filled in ones.Sad

We will now! Nights are getting lighter, perfect timing!
I took everyone's word for it that there was nothing u/g and nothing else worth seeing....Oops

I suppose the waste is being hauled off for fill or for forestry road-making. There has been a 360 tracked machine up there on and off for years. I *think* that the young lad who owns what used to be the petrol station in Dolwyddelan may have some involvement as the same 360 is sometime parked up in his yard? Anyone know him....I forget his name...Flowers

Must be some u/g workings somewhere: Apart from the geezer that I met being adamant ( he didn't wear makeup or have a head band ((thatI could see)) that there were. By my dodgy reckoning: By adding another 10% of sold slate onto the spoil heaps plus a bit more for roads, building, getting stuck in clothing etc, and then digging it all back in there wouldn't be enough room in the Twll to fit it all. Blink But then maths was never my good point ConfusedConfused

I haven't been up there for 20 years or so and i live in the village, cant remember any chambers only the odd adit. pentre'r bont the old part of the village on the road leading up to the quarry was built almost entirely of stone quarried from tynbryn as its known, the lower part of high street.. on the right where the forestry road starts past the four or so new houses.. has been completley demolished as has the chapel on the left as you start up the hill opposite the forestry road. also the railway used lots of the stone for bridges and boundary walls, later the forestry bought some for roads,a quarried slate tip is at least 2 or 3 times bigger than the hole it came out of. the chap in the car park probably worked for the council or the forestry and not in a slate mine. the owner of the yellow 360 Wink......not me!

What's the fella's name? Used to collect fire engines and convert them into breakdown trucks?

Supposedly yeah, most of it is on private farm land and i'm not sure how receptive the owners would be.
