Jerah Copper Mine (mine)
Posted: 21/09/2020 17:23:11 Reply | Quote I'm doing a write-up on this mine, it's hoped to include something about it in a 2021 update to the 1975 'Mines & Minerals of the Ochils'. It was actually called Loss Mine, identified 1717 and worked on and off from 1723 (ish) to 1763. Two adits upper and lower unconnected. looks like the upper saw most activity because of the amount of spoil. A lot of spoil was used building the drystane dykes around there. Some great photos on the site here, I'll maybe be back for permission to use nearer publication (if at all) time. Oh...anybody got anything on the Airthrey Silver Mine in the same locality? Aye, I know, its a copper mine. Cheers all and take care. IP: 86.136.26.212 |

Airthrey Silver Mine is a totally different mine to the copper mine above BofA There is an open adit next to the burn on the hairpin bends going up Sherifmui from Logie Kirk It is a mystery though as it is a short tunnel with no evidence of mineral deposits - more like a trial. Airthrey seems to have been used interchangeably in describing the mines IP: 81.157.23.113 |
