I have been alerted to the fact that there are too many lead mines to show on a map!
If you search for all lead mines (A-Z) it gives you an error "Uh oh, too many mines to show on a map (2183), the map would be too slow to display. Please try refining your search down a little. "

Could we split the A-Z to A-M and N-Z for example?

Chris.

Try selecting the OS map option. You have to select UK and it will appear. IP: 81.147.181.207

It is very slow!!

Just been checking what it lists for the Hafren Forest area, as I'm currently doing a survey of the Built Environment up there, and I've got a lot more sites to see than listed here.

And why are there 2 listings for Nant y Eira, one under the Welsh name and one as Snowbrook, which is the English translation?

There will be too many lead mines to show on a map if search terms aren't being used.

Entering a partial mine name or selecting the UK & the relevant OS map sheet prefix should narrow it down.

I've just done a specific search on a mine name and a broader search on a map sheet and neither took more than a second.

-----

Re duplicate/misnamed mines: entries are added by site users and errors will naturally occur. A short post will usually resolve the issue.

That's fine if you know what you are looking for, but not when like I was, you are looking at a particular area. IP: 87.115.67.151

I've just searched using the show on an OS sheet facility, choosing the UK & selecting map sheet SN and using no other search terms and the result was instantaneous? IP: 82.24.19.176

No, I think Simon the site owner is wary of information which has been voluntarily submitted by site users being harvested for commercial purposes. IP: 217.137.42.98 Edited: 15/09/2020 16:04:04 by RJV

That seems fair enough. I'm certain I've downloaded a csv from somewhere of abandoned metal mines in England and Wales, but I can't find it online, and having changed computers I can't find the base file. IP: 82.0.136.242

If photos are righted using either Windows Photo Viewer (included with Windows) or Adobe Photoshop or similar, I have never had any problems. I think that your problems may revolve around the software you are using which is taking information from the photo that is intended for different software, just a guess.

I set all of my computers to open jpegs with Photo Viewer by default, and when I buy another camera chuck the included disk in the bin where it belongs.

Definitely it.
Its a reoccurring issue as phones and cameras that use their provided software show correct way up regardless of how the camera was held for the shot, but on a website or other media they will display in the default position.

Windows Photo Viewer can be difficult to find for some reason, but its there. Browse to any jpeg and right mouse button it, you will see "Open with", click that, and the program will be there on the list. You can choose this as the default program to open jpegs, then all you need do is to click on a jpeg in Windows Explorer or whatever and it will open with Photo Viewer. It has little round arrows to rotate the shots.
