Ashes Quarry Loco: Low profile loco no.3945 built by Hawthorn Leslie in 1920 for the Consett Iron Company to fit in the tunnel which linked the two parts of the quarry as the company could not purchase the land in between at the time.The quarry closed in 1944 and the loco was scrapped in 1952. 1910 Hanomag-Siemens loco: 2ft 2in gauge Hanomag/Siemens loco employed by Consett Iron Company on their tramway between Chopwell and Whittonstall Drift about 1910. Little Sally: Little Sally was a 2ft 6in gauge loco built by Black,Hawthorn of Gateshead in 1889 and puchased by WLC to work between Groverake and Rispey mill. When mining at Groverake was suspended in 1903 the loco continued to work the line from Wolfcleugh to Rispey until 1909 when she was moved to Stanhopeburn until that too closed in the early 1930s. Greenhurth Wheel: The construction of the wheel at Greenhurth circa 1880 with the managers house and the flat rod system behind. A wheel of this size (40ft dia ?) was necessary to operate the flat rod system which had to travel up the side of the valley to the pumps in the newly sunk Swan's shaft 500yds away. Elvet coal prices c1900: Prices for coal from Elvet and Framwellgate mines, the difference in price probably due to the convenience of Elvet on the edge of Durham City whereas Framwellgate was about a mile and a half outside. Grasshill Lead Mine: Opened by Joshua Byers initially and then by the Grasshill Mining Co in the 1890s. J. Cameron Swan & Co then worked it until 1902 at which time zinc was also mined.
