1 Photos of Crarae Granite Quarry

Crarae disaster: Cover of the illustrated London News depicting Crarae Quarry on Loch Fyne.
On 25th of September 1886. 7 people were killed by blast fume from a planned explosion.
A particularly large blast was planned in the quarry and a large group of sightseers arrived by paddlesteamer to view the blast.
It was a wet day and the explosion produced a large quantity of toxic fume which was responsible for the deaths. (Crarae-Granite-Quarry-Archive-Album-Image-001)
Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
