Headframe

It probably wouldn't be out of place to say this represents an icon of the Cornish mining heritage which stretches back to the bronze age. It was erected in 1969 on the New Cooks Kitchen Vertical Shaft which was sunk in 1907. It was used mainly for lifting machinery. There used to be another headframe, since dismantled for handling the ore. The ore was intially processed at the 386fm level, brought to the surface and via conical buckets, transfered to the conveyor (seen on the left) and then to the ore bins.
