Wheal Widden was originally a zinc mine, hence the name of the area Baldhu Cornish: Bal=Mine Dhu=Black anyway, The mine is a few shafts on the edge of Modern Wheal Jane, which worked the tin lode through Widden. About 4 shafts remain open but their collars are dangerous. I assume the earlier zinc lode was elsewhere and not connected with the shafts as these all drop into the tin lode.
