Watermills Footrail 4, 5, 6 (Watermills) Coal Mine (United Kingdom)
Only remaining structure is the chimney base, built about 1840 as a ventilation shaft for Watermills Colliery, doubling up as a memorial for the owner and squire of Apedale, Richard Edensor Heathcote. The sandstone inserts read "Live and let live" "Be just and fear not" "Regard the end" and ""REH 1840." The 180 foot chimney was a local landmark at one time but was demolished in 1912 after the mine closed. Now in Apedale country park, quoted from the woodland walks guide
