Swinhope Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

Mine working the William's or Swinhope Vein, which is the continuation of the Barneycraig Vein worked at Coalcleugh and the workings connect with those of Barneycraig. Originally a W.B.Lead Co mine it was also worked for zinc by the Veille Montangne Co. The mine was reopened in 1951 by Durham Chemicals Ltd and in 1955 New Consolidated Goldfields Ltd took it on and they put in a new dib and drove a long exploratory crosscut SE but with disappointing results.
