Pantmawr (Silver Bank) Lead Mine (United Kingdom)

An extensive sited mine by the A4120 to Devil's Bridge. It went through 6 names - Pantmawr, Silver Bank, Silver mountain, Imperial, Silver Hill Consols and South Rheidol. Through the middle of the site the lane to Aberffrwd branches off the A4120.
On the Eastern side of the lane there's a low adit leading under an open cut and the main road. After the cattle grid on the lane, the stream runs through a deep cutting alongside and an impressively sized adit leads in widely for the first few yards before narrowing up, from which the working was mainly effected.
Now for the Western side. In the fields above the lane, several blocked level enterances can be reached, probably trials. As the lane passes over a small tip with blocked workings between, you must scramble down to the stream bed to find the adit. Up in an unusual place above the stream, the partly covered enterance to a large adit is seen driven under the former Pantmawr farm and towards Cwm Rheidol on the other side of Cnwch yr Arian. No water seems to escape the flooded tunnel unless it comes out in Nant yr Aber, which seems this might be the adit that connects with Rheidol United according to David Bick.
Above the road junction, shallow open cuts and a covered shaft are found. Everything here except for these and the adit on the stream bank are on a public footpath.
